ZGF associate Alan Kawahara brings six years of experience as an architectural designer working on a variety of project types including higher education, creative office, and research facilities. Alan has a passion for rigorous, holistic design processes that generate immersive, engaging architectural experiences, and brings strong design acumen to all project phases to ensure design intent is maintained from concept through construction.

He has played a key role in the design and documentation of the exterior façade for the Department of General Services, California Air Resources Board’s new vehicle emissions testing and research facility in Riverside, California, which is targeting LEED Platinum® and set to be the largest true net-zero energy facility of its type in the world. Alan earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University.
