Tony Bridges

Assistant Secretary for Transportation Equity & Engagement, Maryland Department of Transportation

Tony Bridges is the Assistant Secretary for Transportation Equity & Engagement at the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT).  He is a former member of the Maryland General Assembly, where he served on the Appropriations Committee and as Chair of the Public Safety & Administration Sub-Committee.  He was also a member of the Chesapeake Bay Commission, a tri-state legislative commission created to advise the members of the General Assemblies of Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania on policy action to restore the Bay watershed. Tony’s leadership in public and private sectors and demonstrated experience engaging communities led him to become the Executive Director of Blue Water Baltimore whose mission is to achieve healthy waterways and create strong communities where he served before coming to MDOT.

Mr. Bridges is the former Assistant Director of SOURCE, the community engagement and service-learning center for the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Schools of Public Health, Nursing, and Medicine.  He is also the former Director of Human Services and Operations for Park Heights Renaissance, a non-profit organization established to ensure the objectives of the Park Heights Master Plan of Baltimore are implemented.  He has rejoined state government where he previously served as Senior Advisor to the Secretary for the Maryland Department of Transportation before becoming Chief of Staff for the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) a division of MDOT.

Mr. Bridges earned a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from Frostburg State University. He received his certificate in Strategic Public Relations and Integrated Communications from Towson University.
