Sunni Hutton

Sunni is a community organizer with deep experience in helping translate between technical experts and community residents with a focus on elevating community views and voices. As part of the Gravois-Jefferson Historic Neighborhood Plan, Sunni led community outreach to multiple stakeholders and developed diverse committees to carry out plan recommendations. She oversaw two federal Environmental Justice grants from the EPA to improve waste management systems’ environmental impact on South St. Louis communities and reducing plastic pollution in our waterways. The impact of these efforts included leveraging local dollars to support community-led solutions, raising $1 million dollars to increase BIPOC groups financial and organizational capacity, and improving city systems through policy change. Sunni holds a Bachelor's of Science degree from Vanderbilt University in Policy and Human & Organizational Development, and a Masters of Education in Science from University of Missouri Saint Louis.
