Sonja Trierweiler

Sonja Trierweiler is Vice President of Community Development at the Global Network for Zero (GNFZ), where she leads global engagement initiatives focused on accelerating building decarbonization and net zero implementation. She works across industry partnerships, professional education, events, and thought leadership to connect practitioners, policymakers, and market leaders around measurable pathways to net zero.
Prior to joining GNFZ, Sonja served as Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Fitwel healthy building certification system and previously led digital marketing and stakeholder engagement initiatives at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Throughout her career, she has helped advance industry understanding of the connections between building performance, human health, and environmental sustainability.
Sonja brings more than a decade of experience spanning sustainability, communications, and market transformation. Her work has focused on translating complex technical concepts into compelling stories that drive action, build community, and support the adoption of high-performance, healthy, and net zero buildings. Her background also includes communications and digital strategy roles at Edelman, the Democratic National Committee, and the Smithsonian Institution.
