Shawn Sweeney is an impact producer and social marketing strategist focused on storytelling, trust-building, and community-powered change. He serves as a lead organizer for LA Climate Week coordinating the efforts of nearly 100 volunteers who are working together to build capacity, make connections and make visible the deep and meaningful work of hundreds of partners across Los Angeles. Previously he served the Jane Goodall Institute for 21 years, most recently as Associate Vice President, Communications & Partnerships, where he led campaigns, partnerships, and engagement strategies that connected local leadership to global climate and biodiversity conservation goals. With two decades of experience across education, media, fundraising, and program design, Shawn works at the intersection of narrative, equity, and systems thinking. His work centers on human connection—supporting local changemakers and cross-sector teams in shaping solutions that are creative, inclusive, and grounded in real community needs. He serves as the Steering Committee Chair for LA Climate Week and holds a graduate degree in humane education and an undergraduate degree in psychology.
