A leading advocate for a collaborative, research-based approach to landscape architecture, Rocio is focused on creating spaces that are provocative, functional, responsible, and unforgettable. With a background in architecture, she brings a rare ability to connect outdoor environments with the built form, designing spaces that work better for users. Her career spans a wide range of transformative projects across sectors. In mixed-use development, she has contributed to El Cerrito, Pacific Village Platinum Campus, and LifeMoves. In education, she played a key role in the UC San Diego RIMAC Expansion. Her life science work includes the award-winning Campus Pointe Phase 1. In healthcare, she led the landscape design for Kaiser Clairemont Medical Office Building. Rocio’s civic work reflects a strong commitment to community-focused design, with projects such as the Tracy Multigenerational Recreation Center, El Pescadero Park, Campbell Police Department, Grape Day Park Master Plan, and the upcoming Space Shuttle Museum. “I believe great design creates emotion,” Rocio says. “It starts with understanding the user, the site, and the story.”
