Michael Malinowski

Michael Malinowski is a consultant to the American Institute of Architects California, with a focus in Code and Regulatory development and the role of code in advancing Climate Action. He is also a practicing architect as Principal of Applied Architecture Inc, Sacramento CA with 42 years adaptive re-use and urban infill experience. He has been elevated by his peers to AIA Fellowship, is a multi-term member of the ICC Existing Building Code Committee, and is President and founder of the nonprofit Streamline Institute advancing building permit efficiency and effectiveness nationally. Previous roles included President of the 11,000 member AIA California; service on the AIA National Board; Chairmanship of Sacramento’s Development Oversight Commission, Design Review and Preservation Boards; and Keynote Speaker and presenter at Wood Solution Fairs nationally. He started and led the AIA CA CALGreen working group on embodied carbon that included many stakeholder individuals and organizations.
