Marina Jurica is an Emmy Award-winning meteorologist, climatologist and environmental reporter for CBS News Los Angeles, where she covers weather, climate change, Earth science and the ways a changing planet is affecting communities across Southern California and beyond.
Before joining CBS Los Angeles, Jurica spent four years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, working on major Earth and planetary missions including SWOT, Sentinel-6, NISAR and the Perseverance Mars rover. She brings more than two decades of broadcast meteorology experience to her reporting, translating complex science into compelling, accessible stories that connect global environmental change to people’s everyday lives.
She is also pursuing a PhD with research in climate science and paleoclimatology, conducting field research that examines Earth’s past climate transitions as a window into understanding present and future change. Her work has taken her from Norway to ancient climate records preserved in the rock formations of Montana and the United Kingdom.
A passionate advocate for science literacy, she has spoken to students and audiences around the world and is particularly interested in the critical role journalists and scientists play in communicating climate science, solutions and resilience to the public.
