John Ambert is a licensed architect, LEED Fellow, and Founder of Studio Verde, a high-performance building practice focused on delivering practical, buildable sustainability outcomes. With more than 15 years of experience and over 100 projects across education, laboratories, corporate campuses, data centers, and residential developments, John has worked across the owner, architect, and contractor spectrum to deliver high-performance buildings that balance design, cost, and constructability. Through Studio Verde, John leads a full suite of sustainability services that support projects from early entitlement through construction. This includes green building entitlement strategy for developers; sustainability visioning, energy modeling, and high-performance specifications for design teams; and field implementation, commissioning support, and data management for contractors. He also delivers GPRO and LEED training programs for project teams, helping translate high-level sustainability goals into coordinated, actionable execution. John’s work is grounded in the belief that the next generation of development must fully integrate design, construction, and performance. He is currently pursuing his Master of Real Estate Development at USC, with a focus on transitioning into development and delivering high-quality, scalable, and low-carbon projects. As a Senior Advisor to USGBC California, John helps guide the evolution of industry programs including the Contractor’s Commitment, with a focus on simplifying reporting, aligning with national standards, and advancing practical climate solutions for the construction sector.
