Herman K. Trabish began reporting on clean energy on his "NewEnergyNews" blog in 2006 when, after 30 years as a doctor of chiropractic in private practice, he realized his strategy to fix the planet one person at a time was moving too slowly. He also then realized that "Oil In Their Blood," his phenomenally unsuccessful multivolume historical fiction account of the oil industry, was not the solution. Mentored by Aerovironment founder Paul MacCready, one of the fathers of the modern clean energy business, he began reporting on the clean energy sector and his effort is ongoing at Utility Dive under the tutelage of an unusually tolerant editorial staff. In 2023, he began his still ongoing United States Energy Association Power Sector Podcast, which is nearing its 300TH episode and has barely scratched the surface of the innovation in today's energy that is possible.
