Greg Kochanowski is a licensed architect, landscape designer, urbanist, and educator with over 25 years of experience in California. As Partner and Director of Design at Practice and Founder of The Wild, a 501(c)3 non-profit focusing on the impact of the climate crisis in urban environments, Greg leads research on wildfire resilience, and transdisciplinary design with a focus on resilient environments that harmonize natural systems, culture, infrastructure, and development. His work has been recognized locally and nationally by AIA, ASLA, the Architectural League of New York, and exhibited in the Venice and Rotterdam Biennales. Greg has lectured nationally and internationally on topics such as the Wildland Urban Interface, climate adaptation, and fire defense strategies. His publications include The Wild, which explores the dynamics of wildfire in Los Angeles, and he is currently working on Wildfire in the Expanded Field: Adaptive Design for Fire-Prone Futures, a forthcoming book with Routledge Press in 2026. Greg serves on the Board of the Community Design Group, is the Co-Chair of AIA LA’s Wildfire Recovery Taskforce, and is an adjunct faculty member at Woodbury University.
