George Cortez is a workforce development professional, educator, and sustainability leader dedicated to building pathways between education and industry. He serves as an Adjunct Instructor and Program Coordinator with the California Center for Climate Change Education at West Los Angeles College, where he leads employer and industry partnerships, connecting students with career opportunities in California's growing climate economy. He teaches a Facilities Project Management certificate and Work Readiness courses. In his role with the Center, George has developed partnerships with over 65 employers to support internship and fellowship opportunities for emerging professionals. He has also contributed to the development of industry-relevant training programs and curriculum focused on project management, sustainability, and workforce readiness. Previously, George worked as a Project Manager and LEED Consultant. He holds a LEED AP ID+C credential from GBCI, the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential from PMI, and a Master's degree in Career and Technical Education from California State University, San Bernardino. Through his work, George helps bridge the gap between education and industry, ensuring that students are prepared to meet the workforce demands of a rapidly evolving climate economy.
