Gabriela Guevara
Produce Giveaway Coordinator, Chicas Verdes
Gaby Guevara is a Los Angeles-based food-access leader whose work focuses on connecting families with fresh, nutritious food and building community-driven systems to address food insecurity.
Her connection to this work began during her freshman year at Manual Arts High School in South Los Angeles, when she was introduced to the school garden and Chicas Verdes. Through hands-on experiences growing food, supporting community events, and working alongside her peers, Gaby began exploring the connections between food, the environment, and the needs of her community. After graduating from Manual Arts, she attended California State University, Domínguez Hills where she majored in Criminal Justice Administration.
Today, Gaby puts that experience into practice through leadership roles with both Chicas Verdes and Hands of Love. As Community Outreach Coordinator for Hands of Love, a Lynwood-based food distribution program, Gaby developed and oversees its produce giveaway operations. She coordinates weekly distributions providing fresh produce, groceries, and household essentials to more than 250 families every Friday.
As Produce Giveaway Coordinator for Chicas Verdes, Gaby oversees the organization’s produce distribution program, connecting thousands of families with fresh food while creating opportunities for young people to participate in addressing food insecurity in their own communities.
