As the senior advisor to the president for strategic planning and sustainability at Rochester Institute of Technology, Enid Cardinal is responsible for the university’s strategic planning process, oversight of plan progress and implementation, facilitating a campus culture of sustainability with respect to operations, curriculum, and research; and directing RIT’s efforts to achieve its climate commitment. She led the development of the university’s newly released Strategic Framework: Transforming Lives and Through Innovation and Creativity, co-chaired the campus comprehensive planning process, and oversaw the development of its Climate Action Plan. Prior to joining the RIT community, she was the Director of the Office of Sustainability at Illinois State University. There she established a sustainability across the curriculum workshop, authored Illinois State’s inaugural sustainability report, and launched a community wide food waste composting program. She is LEED –accredited professional and holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and history from Binghamton University and a master’s degree in Environmental Policy from Bard College.
