Daniel Coplon

Co-Founder & CEO, ThermoShade

Dan Coplon is the Co-Founder & CEO of ThermoShade, a company that is developing the future of sustainable thermal comfort — and helping our planet mitigate the impacts of climate change — with passive-cooling shade structures.

Prior to ThermoShade, Dan was the first business team hire at a seed-stage virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) startup, WITHIN, where he worked for eight years through a successful exit to Meta. At WITHIN, Dan worked across product and business development, helping to raise multiple rounds of funding and developing several award-winning products, including a video streaming service, an interactive reading app for kids, and a subscription fitness service in VR. The company was acquired by Meta in March 2023.

Dan has had a lifelong passion for helping the environment. During the first four years of his career, he worked as a consultant with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), where he wrote daily posts for the NRDC’s social media channels, promoting their environmental advocacy work and becoming a trusted voice for an organization with three million members.

He has his M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
