Environmental stewardship is central to Amber’s life, from the solar powered electric car she drives to her ongoing conservation projects at her home and children’s school, she strives to eliminate waste and carbon in all that she does. This passion for protecting our Earth drives Amber’s career, and ultimately lead her to California. Amber now calls Santa Monica home and worked for one of the largest architecture firms in the world leading the Performance Driven Design (PDD) studio both domestically and internationally on deep green projects. After many years and much travel, Amber made a career switch to the Architecture Services Division of Public Works at the City of Santa Monica and is a Principal Design and Planning Manager. She is the Project Manager for the most sustainable municipal building in the world, City Hall East (formerly called the City Services Building). City Hall East is the 35th Living Certified Building, administered by ILFI. It has completed construction on-time and under budget for the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, April 22, 2020, even during a pandemic. Amber now focuses on the Airport Conversion project that will transform the 192-acre municipal airport into a regenerative, equitable, and community-driven future. The team will be employing a robust and innovative community engagement process to ensure a diverse cross-section of community is able to participate in the future visioning process. This project requires coordination between all Departments within the City of Santa Monica and extensive community outreach including local, regional and State agencies.
