Alice Julier

Director/Professor, Center for Regional Agriculture Food Transformation/Chatham University Food Studies Program
Alice Julier is a Professor and the founding Director of Food Studies program at Chatham University, Pittsburgh, PA. She is also the Director of the Center for Regional Agriculture, Food, and Transformation (CRAFT), which is also a partner in the USDA Appalachian Regional Food Business Center. Dr. Julier is the past president of the Association for the Study of Food and Society. Her research covers issues related to food and labor including the history of domestic meals, regional food systems and commensality, gender and race in food production and sustainable food systems. Selected publications include Eating Together: Food, Friendship, and Inequality, and the co-editor of Food and Culture: A Reader, 4th edition.
