Kelly Schmandt Ferguson
Director, Santa Barbara & Ventura Counties
Kelly Ferguson has devoted her career to uniting stakeholders and advancing innovative solutions to address environmental challenges and opportunities. As the Director of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties for LACI’s Energize California initiative, she focuses on accelerating the commercialization of energy technologies that benefit utility customers by supporting development of cleantech startups in the region.
Prior to LACI, Kelly worked with the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians as their Environmental Director, where she engaged with diverse stakeholders and jurisdictions to enhance the tribe’s capacity to protect its natural resources and empower community members with green jobs training. Previously, she co-founded a green modular housing company in New York City in 2007 with award-winning green architectural designers, workshop/apd.
A native Santa Barbaran, Kelly received her Master’s in Environmental Science and Management from UCSB’s Bren School. She has a Bachelor’s in Environmental Policy from Vanderbilt University. She is an alum of Leadership Santa Barbara County and is an active steering committee member building civic leadership in Santa Barbara.
